Hi, I am new to this group, although, i have been reading many of the

posts recently.

I have a question though, my surgery should be within the next 6-8

months (fingers crossed), and I was wondering what to expect at the

pre-op appointment. I know my surgery will be at least 6 months away,

but I would like to know what to expect.

Thanks.

My pre-op appointments included several hours at the hospital for pre-

admission tests (blood tests, EKG? tests, patient history, etc.).

Then that same day I went to the surgeon's office where he took pre-

op molds, made a mold for the surgical wafer/splint, took lots of

measurements and photos, and xrays. He also gave me his standard

spiel about what he was going to do to me and what the risks were

(but I already knew all that from these sites), made me sign a

consent form and his parting words were " Eat everything in sight this

weekend, you're going to miss it for awhile! " .

Both were the same day, exactly one week before my surgery. Some

people have their molds done at the ortho's office, but my surgeon

likes to do his own molds and xrays.
