Guest guest
Sounds like I missed a lot in those few days I was out of the loop. Dammit, I'll go back and see what's sending you into round 2, but I hate that it happened, anyhow. For whatever it's worth, I believe that almost everyone who's had a round 2 has found it easier than the first. I think jay's on target here. If the problem is the sheer bulk of it all, try getting the Boost plus (or Ensure plus) not neccessarily for the fiber stuff, and not neccessarily the fiber-added stuff, but the stuff with more calories. Blend in peanut butter, or whatever will give you even more protein that you can get down in the same bulk. Good thoughts to you. Guest guest
I had basically the same problem as Ray- it's been a week for me now and I probably haven't been eating (or rather drinking) quite as much as I should have been. I don't think I ate at all until lunchtime the day AFTER the surgery. And I didn't really think I'd lost much weight until yesterday when my watch kept sliding up and down on my arm. Then I realized that I can now easily make a circle around it with my middle finger and thumb, when I couldn't before. We don't actually have a scale, but my mom and I estimate that I've lost about 7 pounds, and I weighed 127 pounds before surgery. So I'm drinking lotsssss more Ensure Plus today. > Sounds like I missed a lot in those few days I was out of the loop. > Dammit, I'll go back and see what's sending you into round 2, but I > hate that it happened, anyhow. Guest guest
I didn't eat at all until lunchtime the day after surgery, either -- and I didn't eat much of what the hospital brought me then. (The dietitians refused to taste it, when I offered. Bleagh! Salty, yukky, nasty.) But then they'd been pumping whatever they wanted into me in an iv. So I didn't need it until I got home and was on my own about getting the nutrition in. Then it IS important to take whatever you can get in by mouth. Otherwise, you'll soon find yourself taking it in in the hospital again, by needle..
