Guest guest
Hi Bill. I went to school with a bunch of you Ingunears! Know what you mean about 'em. (Ever heard of Rolla, MO? UMR? School of Mines and Metallurgy?) Anyway, letters don't necessarily mean anything - but... in my field - they mean the difference between being able to earn a living - or not - which is why I'm headed to Atlanta and then to Florida for my CEUs. (At least some of them - for one of those sets of letters - they still haven't decided if they'll let it count for another of the sets.) Our best engineering manager at AT&T in St. Louis was a guy who was not an engineer. He just knew how to surround himself with wisdom :-) By the way, I helped a fraternity brother make it through English - virtually writing his papers for him (with the amount of time and effort I put into tutoring him). I graduated and made $9,000 working 1 1/2 jobs. He graduated and made $36,000+ and then got a $10,000 living bonus to boot! And that was 20 years ago! Well, gotta get. Thanks for your posts. I'm gonna leave the woman one alone. Never know what kinda can of worms you're gonna open - do ya? Well, I will say this... There are no true and fast rules when it comes to the difference between the sexes - except of course the biological ones that man is choosing to mutate - but we won't go there... :-) My wife and I don't fit any molds. Often, she fits into what a man would traditionally be thought of as thinking, and I as a woman's. Guess it just shows that rules - that kind anyway - were made to be broken, if there are truly any along those lines anyway. As I work in a field dominated by women (a ratio of about 1:10 or 1:20, perhaps even higher) I tend to look at the job that is being done - not the sex. In fact, I didn't even realize I was in a woman dominated field until a couple of years ago when a male friend of mine told me to look around me :-) Some of us are just plain dense! :-) (Referring to myself of course :-) Well, better get off here. Felt pretty good until I decided to eat this evening. Nearly asleep a few hours ago - with no siesta - but for some reason I got up. Now I " am up " . Need to go see if I can get some shut eye - at least one to shut anyway :-)
