Vera,

I will. I also found pictures of my garden that I didn't lose in the

computer. I will send them to the group later this evening.

Hi Belinda

I would be really grateful if you could tell me all about the Neuropsycological tests you are going to be doing on 29th. I have also been advised that I should have them and at present am looking for someone/somewhere to get it done in BC. I read the information Vera sent you and my immediate reaction was that if they were just going to show me ink spots and ask what I see, then I would`nt bother! Was it explained to you why these tests would be helpful?I wish I had been more attentive when I was discussing it with my new Doc(Prof.Mathias in London,England). So after the 29th if you could let me know if you thought it was worth doing ....and if it helped you Docs to help you ....I would be truly grateful

Marg:

I can only comment generally. In Terry's case, UVa has a clinic for memory

disorders co chaired by a neurologist and a neuro psychologist who work

together as a team to select the medical and psychological tests they need

to diagnose the patient. Terry has had a variety of psychologocal tests

over time and they track the time variations of the various results. From

my point of view and base on our experience, you want a NEURO psychologist

is is an integral part of the team. These two co directors at UVa are

like hand and glove.

Hello Marg,

The neuropsycological tests had done under Prof Mathias was not the

'ink blot' test, but more of a memory test, he had to look at pages of

faces, then he was given another set of picture faces and had to point out

which were in the original set and which were not..........hope you

understand that.

There were also a serious of cut-out pictures which you had to place in an

order you felt told a story.

These are two of the many tests the whole procedure took about 2 hours.

Again I stress it is more of a memory test. and 'making sense' test

hope this is helpful

Marg,

I haven't seen you post in a while or is it just me? My memory is

going so fast anymore. I will be glad to tell you about my

neuropsychological test after I have it. I was told the reason for

having it was to see which parts of my brain are more affected. I

agree with you that if I only were to look at ink spots I wouldn't do

it either. I have seen those ink test done on t.v. and thought they

just look like ink spots to me! haha I am so glad that you found a

new doctor. I remember you were looking for a new one. Do you like

him? I had my Mri's read by Radiologist doctor and they are adament

that I had brain surgery on the back of my head. I have never had

brain surgery so I am anxious to see what other reason there may be

to believe that I had brain surgery. I have been going to another

neurologist at Emory University in Atlanta and I haven't seen her yet

to get her outlook on this. I did see the neurologist that I see

regularly and he told me about the Mri's. He didn't know why they

were adament about the brain surgery. I go back to Emory 9/12. I

might not know about the results of the neuropsychological test until

then but I will let you know what they do to me. I am glad to hear

from you!

Love and gentle hugs,

Belinda

Hi Belinda , Somehow I sent you your own message back and lost my own to you,Sigh.... now I have to start all over again! I have not been posting recently as I was in England to see an Autonomic specialist,Professor Mathias.Although I have seen many Doc`s in Canada and had diagnoses` such as SDS,ALS,Autonomic Disorder to name a few,I felt I needed an expert in Autonomic Diseases. It was well worth the trip as he was able to tell me that he was almost certain that I don`t have SDS....a profound relief.I go back in October for AutonomicTests and then he hopes to be able to give me a firm diagnosis and a treatment plan. And yes I liked him.

How very strange your MRI reading was ,It sounds as if they saw some scar tissue or something missing perhaps? I hope you will remember that Doctors make mistakes especially in the difficult field of interpreting Cat Scans and MRI`s and so please dont worry too much. I will end by hoping you are looking after yourself..you give so much of yourself to this group. We all love you

(my first letter was much better) Marg Manson
