This trip is proving difficult to organise as the only airport I can find

in New Orleans is the International and all the flight bookers

I can find to get prices cannot find it and suggest I try another

airport????????????

Thank you Jim for suggesting the Hilton, apparently there are two Hiltons

which one do you prefer and is it near the French Quarter, as apparently

that is where it 'happens'

I have actually found a package which will take me there to the Ramada

Plaza Hotel Inn on Bourbon, looks OK in the brochure

anyone know it???

We are looking at going early March, is it hot then????

Thank you all for your helpful advice

Gillian, the Air port code is MSY and it is in Kenner which is 16 miles

from New Orleans. By the way, in the French quarter's Try " Royal Orleans "

but the real deal is away from there and in up town New Orleans ie, St

Street. Good Luck and have fun,,

Jill,

The airport code for New Orleans is MSY. I just did a quick search on my

favorite internet travel tool, sidestep (www.sidestep.com) and found flights

from Heathrow and Gatwick to New Orleans (all with a stop and presumably a

change of planes) for between $500 and $900 USD per person. I forget where

in the UK you live, but you might be able to fly out of Manchester is that

is more convenient, although I didn't do the search for that.

As far as hotels are concerned, Ramada is an okay chain but generally the

Hilton's are nicer (and more expensive). Check the Hilton site - I think

the Hilton Riverside is the one Jim mentioned:

http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/hotels/index.jhtml;jsessionid=OERTIN50UEMKZJ31AO

Q2JLQ?ctyhocn=MSYNHHH I've never been to New Orleans but I think there are

places that you really DON'T want to stay -- from what I hear it's a

wonderful city but like London, has it's bad side too.

Hope this helps!

Jill,

Sorry only one airport. There two Hiltons. As I remember, the Ramada is very

nice, but, take a look at its location.

Since I don't know exactly what you need, I have included several

information web sites which I hope will provide more information than you

need. If you need more information, don't hesitate to contact me again.

March is usually warm days and cool sweater nights. Do nor go to New Orleans

while Mardi Gras is on. It ends on March fourth next year. Overall, after

March fourth is a very good time to go. The garden district will be almost

in full bloom, the azaleas should be glorious.

If you wouldn't mind, let me know which site provided the best all round

information. Remember, this is a tourist town, but the jazz is out of this

world. People visiting New Orleans find they come away with very personal

memories and a personal experience that was not expected. Enjoy!

God Bless,

Jill,

I can find all kinds of flights from either Gatrick (LGW) or Heathrow (LHR) to

New Orleans, LA (MSY) on Yahoo (Travelocity). Flights start about $750 round

trip and up (USD).

Take care, Bill Werre
