Guest guest
So i eberyone(at least thats how it sounds when i try to talk, I am a little over week after lower jaw surgery for the second time, i had both done in '92 but was not done growing yet and had relapse (long story, basically insurance issues) So now its 12 years later and insurance has covered whole procedure again....WWWHHHHOOOOO! Only lower jaw needed surgery this time, but i am wired shut with splint again! I am finding that there was not any " real " pain to speak of, i am told that after all this childbirth will be a breeze!! We'll see about that someday! But I have had just general discomfort and the numb lower lip thing is annoying.... My BIGGEST complaint is the lack of food that i can eat. I rememebr it was bad last time, but i am not able to get ANYTHING through...unless it has the consistency of a very milky milk shake which is what i have been living on....i am already tired of ice cream... i tried other suggestions, soup, unless its broth-no go, boxed mashed potatoes, applesause, yougurt??? outside of juice, milk shakes, carnation instant i am really out of ideas...and i have 4-6 more weeks!!!!! HELP!!!!!!
Guest guest
try baby cereal... you can thin that out pretty well. i got baby oatmeal and added brown sugar and half & half. pretty yummy. this next one sounds gross but it was really yummy (especially if most of what you're eating is sweet and you're craving salty): get your favorite veggies - i used zucchini and squash. first cut it up into little pieces and cook it on the frying pan with some butter. add a dash of salt for flavoring. throw it into the blender with a cup of chicken broth (heated). BLEND. if you blend it well enough, the veggies will completely liquefy, trust me. it was SO yummy and much better than plain broth. if its still too thick, add more broth until its liquidy enough. run to taco bell and get a bean burrito. take it home and cut it into four pieces. throw it into the blender (tortilla and all) with two cups of water (heated). sounds gross, i know, but when you're THAT hungry, this will taste AMAZING. lol! you might even add some mild sauce and/or sour cream. blend it until liquidy. again, if its too thick, just add more water until its thin enough. and trust me, i feel your pain. i was wired for six weeks and by the end of it i was SO hungry for solid food. i was scheduled to be unwired on a tuesday... by the sunday before, i was so sick of liquid foods that i just stopped eating and i called my doctor that monday and begged him to let me go in that day and get unwired. he did... and i was happy. that first week of eating was heavenly. take care... > So i eberyone(at least thats how it sounds when i try to talk, > > I am a little over week after lower jaw surgery for the second time, > i had both done in '92 but was not done growing yet and had relapse > (long story, basically insurance issues) > > So now its 12 years later and insurance has covered whole procedure > again....WWWHHHHOOOOO! > > Only lower jaw needed surgery this time, but i am wired shut with > splint again! > > I am finding that there was not any " real " pain to speak of, i am > told that after all this childbirth will be a breeze!! Guest guest
I am on day five after surgery and let me give you some food advice. by the way, i had upper jaw raised (gummy smile), lower jaw brought forward (lack of chin), chin advanced (obviously same) and roof split. So........ I just finished DRINKING my turkey dinner. i put turkey meat (the real stuff, not from deli) in the blender with gravy and mashed pototoes and extra milk. It was DELICIOUS. i Drank peas and sweet potatoes that i had pureed for my 9 month old (i'm stealing from her freezer while she is at my sister's for the week). I have oatmeal everymorning, i just whipped up some peaches adn drank them, jello, pudding and today i had my first scrambled egg. that was a little tough, as it was a tad dry. i will wait again on those. get creative, you can do it with the food!
