Guest guest
Let's hope for good this time!!! I'm back!!! Yesterday I went in for the rework on my lower advancement. When the OS got in there, 3 out of the 4 screws had broken loose. Based on our analysis of the ones that broke, and what it felt like when I finally became congizant, it is apparent that when I was dropped into my bed going from recovery to my room, the jarring broke the jaw loose. The second surgery went better than the first. It took nearly and hour becuase he had some damage to repair, but now I have 3 screws on each side. I can feel my teeth touching on both sides, and the swelling is less than last week's. I do have a little less energy post surgery. I did have to take a nap before a shopping trip to Costco this afternoon. My surgery was around 1:30 yesterday afternoon and by 4:00 I was back in my room. I fully awoke in recovery and received 3 separate shots of phentanol to cut the pain, as well as anti-nausea medicine. Back in my room I got some morphine at a higher dose, and that helped as well. But, by 9:30 I was off the morphine, and on to Vicodin (2x). I took my last dose of Vicodin at 5:30 this morning, and now 8.5 hours later I think I might be getting ready for another dose, but maybe I'll just try some ibuprofen. That's it for now. Thanks for all your continued thoughts, prayers, goood wishes and support. For those of you who are pre-op, the waiting is definitely the hardest part. Even with having to have this done twice in a week, I have no regrets. For those of you who are WITH ME ON THE OTHER SIDE!!! hang on to my heels, shirt tails, or anything you can grab if you see me looking at that door again! Guest guest
Hmmm. Surgery and more surgery. Then morphine, vicodin, a nap, and youre all ready to go to Costco. You kick a$$, Dammitt! Im afraid to ask--Just how much energy do you have on a regular day??? > Let's hope for good this time!!! I'm back!!! >
Guest guest
Dammit...you had me excited and nervous all within one week. I am having lower advancement only next year and I thought " wow, 45 minutes in surgery and he's doing great " and I didn't feel as much stress...but then you had to go back and I instantly became nervous. I guess the moral of the story is to tell them not to drop us on the bed so hard! Glad you are doing great and I wish you continued success
Guest guest
Also there's something to be said for being banded shut for a few days post-op. You don't have your jaws flying around while you're in a semi-conscious state. Jay > Dammit...you had me excited and nervous all within one week. Guest guest
Well, as the father of 3 kids (8, 11, 14), I do have to keep up with them on a regular basis including being the soccer coach for my 8 year old's competitive team. But, I'm no super human. I just never tend to sit still. When I found out I'd have to have the surgery, my oldest's remark was " Dad, you can't sit still for 2 hours, how are you going to sit still for 2 weeks? " Well, I am human. Although I have to tell you I do have less energy after surgery 2 than surgery one. Today I feel COMPLETELY drained. Last week at this time I was itching to mow the lawn (waited until Monday to do that, just to please my bride). Today I went to the water park with the kids, and sat for four hours, then came home and slept for two. But, otherwise I feel great! Dammit > > Let's hope for good this time!!! Guest guest
YIKES!!! Dammit. I'd think you were joking if I hadn't seen a hospital manhandling a feller with a broken shoulder.
