hard time keeping lips together

due to numbness, etc, i am having a hard time keeping my lips

together. funny thing, that was problem BEFORE I had surgery due to

gummy smile. do the muscles in my " poor wittle wips " , come back to

do their job prior to all numbbess or tingling going away? This

hanging open is causing carpet mouth among other things.

im with you...i feel like a look dumb with my lip hanging open all

the time, Oh DUH!!!

but i watched in a mirror for liske 2 days straight and it doesnt

look like anything....its in our warped minds!!!

Hi ,

If you had upper surgery, it's due to the swelling in the upper lip.

It can take awhile to go down. I had the same problem, thought maybe

the surgeon had not reduced my upper jaw enough. But lo and behold,

one night I awoke with my lips tightly closed!

It's also because they literally stretch your lips around the block

while you are asleep in surgery.

Yes, lip closing should happen prior to all numbness or tingling

going away (getting brace hardware off helps too). The

numbness/tingling is just entertainment to help you pass the time : )
