Guest guest
Hi, I'm new here ~ I will be having my surgery on Sept. 15th for both my upper and lower jaw to correct an underbite. I am 26 and only getting it done now although I have wanted it more than anything since I was 15! I am excited to start my new life and would love to hear about any fellow Canadians' experiences as maybe the practices here are a little different from the US?? I would also love to talk to anyone who has surgery coming up ~ although I am super excited to have this done and am more ready for it now than I ever was, I still get the jitters now and then and wonder what it will be like on the day of my surgery! Hope to hear from someone! oighrig
Guest guest
Hi! I am in Nova Scotia! Just found out about a month ago that I will need surgery and am learning lots from the board. Where are you located? Caidyn
Guest guest
Hi, I'm in Ontario, north of Toronto. I had my surgery (upper/lower/genio) in August of 2002 at Toronto General. My surgery story (as well as a number of others and lots of info) is on the geocities site I set up at http://www.geocities.com/orthognathicinfo/ My photos are on site 2 at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/orthognathicsurgerysite2/ (you have to join this group to be able to view photos, there's lots there) > Hi, I'm new here ~ I will be having my surgery on Sept. 15th for > both my upper and lower jaw to correct an underbite. Guest guest
Hi ~ Thanks, I looked at your before/after pics and although it was pretty scary seeing the ones right after surgery(!!) it is an amazing difference and you must be pleased with the end results. I have a predominent underbite, and my upper jaw is underdeveloped so it has to be brought forward a bit too. My provincial healthcare pays for the surgery if I have to go outside the province and thank God I do (in Halifax) What is the situation like in Ontario? When this is all over I would like to set up a webpage with info for Canadians ~ up until last year I thought this was all a hopeless dream, it was really hard for me to find info! > > Hi, I'm new here ~ I will be having my surgery on Sept. 15th for > > both my upper and lower jaw to correct an underbite. Guest guest
Hi Caidyn! I am in Saint NB! My surgery will be in Halifax though at the QEII with Dr. Precious. I've already had my consultation appt with him and he is super nice, as are the other surgeons there I've heard. I know, thank god for this board! I have been learning loads too. What does your surgery involve? Mine is an underbite but my upper jaw is underdeveloped so it has to be brought forward a bit too. I have wanted/needed it for a quite a while but just never had any support and couldn't find any info. But finally I am on the path to a new life:) What part of NS are you in? I have lived on the south shore, in Sydney, and in Antigonish. I want to move back to Sydney actually but can't until my braces come off next year which is annoying. > Hi! > > I am in Nova Scotia! Guest guest
Hi , The surgery was covered under Ontario Health Insurance, but the visits to the surgeon's office were not, that cost about CAD 1,200. I really felt terrific after my surgery, just tired from the ordeal. The pictures make it look a lot worse than it was, believe me! I'm pleased with the results, hope you will be too. > > > Hi, I'm new here ~ I will be having my surgery on Sept. 15th for > > > both my upper and lower jaw to correct an underbite. Guest guest
Hey , Dr. Lovely is another surgeon at the hospital, pleasant names (Precious and Lovely) eh? I had upper/lower/genio 8 weeks ago by Dr. on at the VG in Halifax and I am absolutely pleased with the results. I've heard great things about every single surgeon who works there. Good luck with your consult! Kirstin > Hey, I am in Nova Scotia too... first meeting with Precious in July...looking forward to meeting him... WHo is Dr. Lovely? is that his assistant or just another surgeon there at the QEII??? > > Kev > have been removed]
Guest guest
Hi ! Good to know what you think of Dr. Precious. From what my ortho has told me so far (I am still waiting for my braces) I will need lower, upper and chin. My lower jaw is too far back and I have TMJ symptoms. I am in the polis Valley, Berwick area. I love the South Shore! Holly > Hi Caidyn! I am in Saint NB! My surgery will be in Halifax > though at the QEII with Dr. Precious.
