retainer question

after 4 years and 8 months of being in braces, i was finally freed

from the brackets today. Is not wearing a retainer for the 1st

2months really bad for my teeth?? i'm asking cause i found out a

relative of mine is very sick and she's out of town and i won't be

able to see my ortho up until end of august.

You have got to be kidding! :-o Retainers do just what their name implies -

retain. They retain the teeth in the position they were in when the braces

came off. If you want to either p*ss off your orthodontist and/or wind up back

in

braces, then go ahead and NOT wear the retainers for a month or two.

Personally, I hate my retainers, BUT I hate braces more.
