Guest guest
Hello I just joined yesterday and Monday I had lower jaw advancement and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if it's normal to still be totally numb in the chin and most of the lower lip by day 4?? I'm starting to freak out a little as I don't know how long it generally lasts for most people. Thank you in advance for any help ~miniann
Guest guest
I am on day 9 and i still cant feel my bottom lip or chin and i went to the OS today and he said it will take a while for feeling to return. I have a tingling sensation in my bottom lip and chin and the OS told me that is a good sign that the nerves are reconnecting and i am on my way to having feeling. I can't wait i am so tired of drooling > Hello I just joined yesterday and Monday I had lower jaw advancement > and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if it's normal to still be > totally numb in the chin and most of the lower lip by day 4?? Guest guest
I'm 3 weeks post-op and I still have numbness but it's getting better (I think). I have heard 6 weeks to 3 months or even more. It's very slow to come back. It doesn't come back all at once. I've read where the numb area gradually becomes smaller and smaller over time. Guest guest
I'm 2 months post-op from lower only and I still have numbness in lower right lip and chin/gums. It is getting better each week. My OS said it could take up to 6 months. He says if I feel tingling/itching sensations..that's good. I hope it comes back...it's no fun having food on your lips & not knowing it! Not good on a date! jayhb2004 no_reply > wrote:I'm 3 weeks post-op and I still have numbness but it's getting better (I think). I have heard 6 weeks to 3 months or even more. Guest guest
I'm a little over 8 weeks post-op and I am still numb in the lower left side of my chin and lip (I had upper/lower and palatal split). I was numb from my chin to my eyelids for several weeks following surgery and I still have a teeny bit of numbness under my eyes (when I put makeup on I feel it). The feeling gets better each day, but I think you need to plan on being numb for longer than 4 days! :-) All the nerves were moved around and your bones are healing, so it takes time. My extensive numbness was normal according to the doc--he said he had no problems with the nerves so he doesn't expect permanent numbness. But it takes time... > Hello I just joined yesterday and Monday I had lower jaw advancement > and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if it's normal to still be > totally numb in the chin and most of the lower lip by day 4?? Guest guest
miniann, i'm 2 months lower jaw advancement postop. I'm got almost 100% feeling back on lower lip and chin area.... Just like everyone else, there was a lot of tingling, but it was very slow to regain, but over the last 2 weeks I've got it almost all feeling back. In the last 2 weeks i've been taking 3000mg of Vitamen C daily (1000mg taken 3 times a day). I'm not sure if it helped the process though... Stupidly, I didn't take any Vitamen C before the surgery, but was adviced by a doctor a few weeks ago to help speed up my recovery... > Hello I just joined yesterday and Monday I had lower jaw advancement > and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if it's normal to still be > totally numb in the chin and most of the lower lip by day 4?? Guest guest
Pals, friends, chums... FOUR DAYS??? And you think everything should be all back together and just fine??? If you are very, very fortunate, as I was. But four days is generally way too soon to start figuring out what's going on, even. Relax, and give your body some time to heal. Things can (and generally do) get much better, but often not in four days only. Your stitches probably are not yet healed.... Relax. Tend to your healing body. Take care of yourself, and let your family and friends take care of you! Guest guest
Jay hit the nail on the head. I'm almost 3 weeks and I still probably have 60% of my nubmness. It's going away, but very very slowly. > > Hello I just joined yesterday and Monday I had lower jaw > advancement > > and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if it's normal to still be > > totally numb in the chin and most of the lower lip by day 4??
