Guest guest
Recently had demo of a room air cleaner machine. Does anyone out there use one? Do you notice a difference in air quality? I have no known allergies but thought perhaps it would lessen the possibility of respiratory infection. This machine was a Filter Queen And I thought terribly expensive although demo'srator thought Medicare would bear part of cost. IT was not a HEPA air cleaner but said to be superior to HEPA. barbara pond blacksburg va
Guest guest
Barb, It is highly doubtful that anything could be superior to HEPA. Some of the ion electrostatic can beat that but cost over $300 and should be installed in the return of your central air system to work properly. For the price and work (electrostactic have to be cleaned often) a HEPA is better unless you are highly allergic to something. Electrostactic are NOT good for single room applications, if you get one get it in your central air duct. Take care, Bill Werre Bvpond44@... wrote: Recently had demo of a room air cleaner machine. Guest guest
Greetings Barb! I also read in a consumer report type of magazine (been a long while ago), that the room size electrostatic machines have a minor, but nasty flaw. They are unable to catch all the charged debris on their screens. As a result some flow out from the machine and appear to then be attracted to walls and such. Yuck. Painting and cleaning walls would then be a real nuisance. This may have been corrected since then. However, I would prefer to have this enter the air return than just the general room. Periodic cleaning of the AC return duct is possible, as well as easier and cheaper. Regards, =jbf= B. Fisher
Guest guest
Barb, Check out the "Sharper Image" machine. For the money, I believe it is the best all around. We use an Alpine Ozone generator and it works well also.
