Belinda, I've only seen this in a catalog, but my speech therapist said the

products in that catalogue were good. $299 is about the cheapist I've seen

so far, others can go several thousand $. Of course they do a lot and some

are taken care of third party (this wasn't one). If my dexterity gets worse,

I don't see the point. I just wanted something simple, Jim is so hard of

hearing that even the simplest requests are hard for him to understand, this

one prints a well as speaks. There are machines out there that can be

operated with the eyes, pretty amazing! Some have a trial period to try them

out, keep looking.

My speech isn't good. It started two years ago, but people were too polite

to say anything. I asked to be referred to a speech therapist several months

ago. She had a few exercises but mostly gave me words to practice. I'm

seeing another one now that is really GOOD. She explains breathing and

muscle control in a way I haven't heard before, and we're working hard with

sounds. Jim sat in on a session the other day and he could understand me.

It'll buy me some time. Dodie in MO

Dodie,

My speech pathologist sounds like the one you went to first. The one

you are going to now sounds great. I haven't been to her in a while

because I have been going through more testing. When I go back I will

ask her other ways of doing exercises for my breathing and muscles. I

have been going to her for a year and hate to change if I don't have

to. I am fortunate as of yet, I don't have problems swallowing or

breathing. I had the swallowing test the first of this year and I

have had no change in that. I agree we need to do as much as we can

to help ourselves.

Love and hugs,

Belinda
