Guest guest
I am 4 days post op & I read somewhere that ice only help in first 48 hours. Is that true? Should I still keep on iceing to get the swelling down? Sach

She said that after 48 hours, it's useless, and heat does better to activate blood flow. And I can tell you, it felt good on heat. Some one else on this board (I think it's Jay, but I'm not sure) also said ice didn't help after a certain time. Ray
Guest guest
I think the most common recommendation is keep ice on it for the first 48 hours, then after 72 hours you can start to apply moist heat. In my case I kept doing the ice treatments for 72 hours and then began to alternate ice and moist heat. Hope this helps, Jay > > I am 4 days post op & I read somewhere that ice only help in first 48 > > hours. Is that true? Guest guest
How do I apply moist heat? For ice I have the jaw-wrap from zip & sqeeze. > > > I am 4 days post op & I read somewhere that ice only help in > first 48 > > > hours. Is that true? Guest guest
One way is to take a wet towel and put it in the microwave for a minute or so to make it hot (not too hot). Another way is to use a microwavable hot/cold " comfort pack " (I don't know the exact name). It's a gel pack that you can freeze or microwave. They might have them at your local pharmacy or drug store. Take one of those and put it in the microwave wrapped in a wet towel. Microwave it for about a minute. It will stay hot longer than the towel by itself. Jay > > > > I am 4 days post op & I read somewhere that ice only help in > > first 48 > > > > hours. Is that true?
