Bisacodyl is a Stimulant Laxative. Stimulant laxatives encourage bowel movements by acting on the intestinal wall. They increase the muscle contractions that move along the stool mass 2. Results usually occur within six to twelve hours. Evacuation is soft to semi-fluid stool. Bisacodyl is enteric coated to protect the stomach from irritation. Contraindications

Stimulant Laxative Precautions, Enema Precautions, and Suppository Precautions. Results slowed if taken with food. Do not take the tablets within an hour of (consuming) milk or antacids (may cause enteric coating to dissolve too quickly).
