Guest guest
Most of you who know me know that I believe that the victims of a number of neurological diseases basically face the same symptoms and problems. There is, in reality, little difference between the diseases for those who have them. Some diseases have medications that help make the various symptoms managable. None of the medications delay the progression of the diseases or offers a cure. The diseases are often misdiagnosed. Since they are generally diagnosed by symptom - the doctors search for the best fit of symptoms and act accordingly. The European PSP Society recently wrote about this and suggested that we needed a broader name to call these diseases as a group (for example " cancer " covers a multitude of different ailments). They mentioned the word " neurosy " as one suggestion as a name for the group of neurological diseases - but as they said, any other agreeable term would be acceptable. We whole heartedly agree. If you've visited PSPInformation.com you know we've had to cover more than PSP in order to provide available information. What is useful for those with Parkinson's (for example: physical exercises) would also be very useful for those in the early stages of PSP. So, the word " neurosy " covers what we are all about better than our original name of PSPInformation. That is why we have registered the web address of " neurosy.org " . We don't quite know what we will do with it eventually. It will begin as a copy of PSPInformation.com. The first pages are online now but there are many problems in making these two sites work together - so give us some time to find and fix the bugs. Neurosy.org will give us a wider audience than will be possible with the name PSPInformation.com and in numbers there is strength. Perhaps enough strength to persuade the governments, medicine manufacturers and the medical community that we need and deserve help to tame this epidemic of neurological diseases that threatens us all.
