Guest guest
Hi , I wouldn't be poking around feeling your screws or plates! You're still healing, and you don't want to stir anything up. But yes, ask your surgeon (I wondered if mine had worked up near my eye sockets since I had these lovely nike swooshes underneath each eye - he swore he hadn't). Swallowing will improve. Your face and chin will someday feel like yours, but yes, it takes a while for that to happen, if you had the whole face numbness as I had and considering that things are probably in a different place (I had upper/lower/genio, not sure what you had, sorry). Happy healing! > I may have missed a reply to this if i asked, but it's possible i > didnt even post the question. > > Is anyone else able to feel any or one of their screws? i am and it's > freaking me out. i will talk with the surgeon about it on friday. i > am hoping he will tell me with all the soft tissue redistributing and > working on healing, i WONT be able to always feel it. it is way high > up near the side of my nose where the skin is pretty thin anyway and > i am a rather thin woman. > > day 11 and i am still uncomfortable swallowing on the first swallow. > i hope this improves. Guest guest
Yes, I can feel mine... so can everyone else too " Hey, want to feel the plates in my face???? " lol I was freaked out at first... I thought it was a bone or something and couldn't figure it out. I asked my OS about it, and he said it was the plates. If they bother me I could opt to remove them, but right now it's not bothering, just weird. I guess I could get used to it. I am 8 1/2 weeks post-op. ~Cathy did i ask this already??? I may have missed a reply to this if i asked, but it's possible i didnt even post the question. Is anyone else able to feel any or one of their screws? i am and it's freaking me out. i will talk with the surgeon about it on friday. i am hoping he will tell me with all the soft tissue redistributing and working on healing, i WONT be able to always feel it. it is way high up near the side of my nose where the skin is pretty thin anyway and i am a rather thin woman. day 11 and i am still uncomfortable swallowing on the first swallow. i hope this improves. Showers still feel REALLY WEIRD on my face and washing and putting lotion on even weirder. my new CHIN seems so far out there!
Guest guest
Hi , I had upper, lower, genio also. The screw i feel is from the OUTSIDE. when i wash or just scratch that area. i try to keep away as it creeps me out. i would never be poking around on the inside, at least not at this point! THanks, > > I may have missed a reply to this if i asked, but it's possible i > > didnt even post the question. > > > > Is anyone else able to feel any or one of their screws? i am and > it's > > freaking me out. i will talk with the surgeon about it on friday. i > > am hoping he will tell me with all the soft tissue redistributing > and > > working on healing, i WONT be able to always feel it. it is way > high > > up near the side of my nose where the skin is pretty thin anyway > and > > i am a rather thin woman. > > > > day 11 and i am still uncomfortable swallowing on the first > swallow. > > i hope this improves. Guest guest
I can feel my screws and plates too. The OS told me that because like you i am thin i am more likely to feel the screws and plates. Guest guest
Hi , Well, I mean don't poke around on the outside too! Hey, maybe I'm just too conservative about this, but geez! I barely wanted to feel my chin in the early weeks, it kind of creeped me out. > Hi , I had upper, lower, genio also. I tried to feel them, but the areas where they're located are still very swollen (from under the skin), and I can't feel anything... Also, when they took x-rays at the hospital, I was having this reaction to morphine, so I didn't think of asking to see them... And my surgeon is gone for two more weeks... I was hoping to see them.. I know, it probably sounds very silly of me, but since they're a part of me now, I'd rather feel them and now where they are.. :-) Ray
Guest guest
I also had the swallowing issue for a long time, it just now went away (I'm 20 days post op). I did have a little cold last week, with my defenses at a lower level I was likely to develop that, so that made swallowing harder. Plus my mouth is still not closing well yet, so at night I'm drooling all over the place without my mouth and throat getting any drool! Perhaps that's also your problem. It does get better!
