The point of my post was to illustrate there are many different ways to

look at the effectiveness of and justification for applying sophisticated

and expensive diagnostic tools.

The bottom line is will the test make a difference in managing the specific

case at hand. We pay our docs to make these judgements using their

professional judgement and experience. Just because we think it is

necessary, may not be sufficient justification. If we think it is prudent,

then we must convince the doctors.

PS I find that Dr. L has more wisdom to apply than is apparent in a first

exposure to his list.
