Hi,

Wanted to welcome you to the group, my name is Marilyn and I live in

Washington. Married 39 years and have 3 kids. I lived in Dolores,

CO., for a couple years and we used to spend lots of time in

Albaquerque. I can't spell that!!

You will find so many great people here on this site and they will be

wonderful support to you. Sorry to hear you have RP, but hope the

doctors can get it under control so you don't have the flare ups. I

also have problems with chlorine in the water. Whenever our water

company is going to increase the amount they put in the drinking

water they call me up and tell me so I can be sure and go on bottled

water till they get the level of chlorine back to a lower level. They

do that for a number of people here who have problems. We also have

filters on our faucets which help (a little). I get severe rashes as

well. Not sure if it's entirely from the water, or if it could be

the RP or meds. I appreciated having the name of the lotion you use

and might try ordering some of it. My doctor told me to use Cetaphil

lotion and I've been doing that. Doesn't always work though.

Love, Marilyn

Marilyn,

My husbands best friend came to visit us, and he saw my reaction to

the water, and he sent us a shower head in the mail, which has a

filter in it to take the chlorine out. It is the best!! I will call

him this weekend and ask him where he got it. I have been using this

new shower head and the lotion, and I haven't had a rash in six

months. It is wonderful. It was weird when I was taking the Pred, my

skin looked like paper, and it felt all wrinkly and really dry.

We actually have a distiller which takes the chlorine out, so I can

drink the water, but it is hard, as I love soup.. just love soup, but

I can't eat it when I am out, or I get a drastic reaction.

I also have problems with rashes, doctor said dermatitis. Anyway I have taken the advise of our helpers here and use Oil of Olay body wash and soaps. It has helped. They also said to use only Dove hand soap. I tried more prescibed ointments, lotions, etc and nothing worked. Sometimes it seems like all this "stuff" just needs to run its course. Take Care, Sue Marth

Hi Lu,

I am new to the group, but I wanted to let you know that I will be saying a very special prayer for you tonight before I go to bed.

I have this beautiful antique cross that I found, that when I first laid eyes on it, I just had to have it. It seemed almost to draw me to it. I hung it above my bed, so I can get into bed, and put my hand on it and ask God to keep safe all my near and dear, and all the friends I have lost. It gives me a beautiful peaceful feeling in my heart, and feels like a good close to the day.

My prayers tonight will be with you tomorrow.

I wish you all the best and will be thinking of you.
