Guest guest
Hi everyone I want to welcome all the new members, I haven't had much time to welcome each one individually, so I thought a group welcome is the next best thing... welcome and glad you found this group. I've been doing ok, and still taking the Vioxx for the leg pains. No other flare-ups, thank God. I brought my uncle to the orthopedist yesterday because he has lots of problems walking, has really bad arthritis. The doctor took one look at his hip x-ray and said " I really don't know how you manage to walk at all " all of his cartilage etc at the hip joint is totally gone.... he's grinding bone on bone... He's the type of man who will put on a brave face and won't show the pain, but I know how much pain he's in. He'll be undergoing a total hip replacement as soon as possible(he had a previous one for the other hip). I called in sick just so I could accompany him to the doctor, he is my only relative here in Montreal... when we were walking back to the car (he insisted on walking) he was crying a bit, I've never seen him cry before except when my dad died 13 yrs ago, he was upset at not doing something about this earlier and lived with this pain all this time (5 yrs +). I told him he'll be jumping like a grasshopper in no time - he started to laugh and cry at the same time.. and so did I... oh well... the doctor told him the operation success rate is 98%, they perform approx. 10 to 15 hip replacements per week... can you believe it!!!! I'll let you know how things go. anyway, I'll be going on no mail for a little while, just so I can catch up with some email and stuff... take care my friends, you can email me privately if you want to... love you all dearly Carmela xoxoxoxox

Guest guest
Carmela, so good to hear from you.... Glad that you are doingn so well... I'm doing pretty good too.. I also have the leg pains....guess those don't go away so quickly... I'm now down to 10mg of pred...and so far so good.... Only on pred and Biaxin... Keeping my fingers crossed... My mother in law had a total hip replacement done and came through just fine.. In fact she refused to go to physical therapy...lol said she could do it on her own...(she's 82) Well, she did... Did her exercises everyday and the PT came out to her house and was amazed.... That was 2 years ago and she has had no problems at all... I'm sure your uncle will do fine... Know you are both in my thoughts and prayers. hugs
