My problem is as follows. I am military and therefore I have a

military oral surgeon and my orthodontist hasn't really worked with

her. He knows that she does excellent work but hasn't had the

pleasure of working with my os. I was hoping to have my upper

surgery in august before my husband leaves to go overseas and my os

said that she would try to have it worked out that way. On the other

hand my ortho wants me to have a second opinion with the os that he

has worked with. My insurance won't pay for civilian os to do

surgery. My ortho thinks that my os has too many questions and my os

thinks that my ortho isn't communicating very well. I like both of

them. The only thing about my os is that I leave from my

appointmeants and she says " don't make an appointment we'll get in

touch with you " and I am the one who always calls her back. I don't

know I guess that I am just eager to get this thing over with

especially before my husband goes to iraq. just needed to get it

out. any adivce? thanks sara

Sara. I'm not sure where you live, but I have noticed some people

write about going to a University dental program and the cost is

significantly less. That may be an option for you to look into.

Is there any kind of liaison person in the military who can help you

through this? Same suggestion for the other person (MarieClaire?)

having problems with military coverage... Either by getting coverage

for the consult, or by explaining to the ortho why you can't have a

civilian opinion?

Can you just level with your ortho about it all -- sounds like to me

you have, pretty much.

My gut instinct is that any time an os (or any doc) has a question to

be answered, I danged well want the doc to have that answer. To me,

there is no such thing as " too many questions " from a doc who's

treating me.

But that's just my lay, gut opinion.
