Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am new to this group and would like to ask some questions. I just had the SARPE procedure on June 29th, and recently returned to work this week. Ofcourse, I'm a Speech-Language Pathologist, so you can imagine my challenges! I have complete numbness in my upper gums. Has anyone experienced this, and did it last a long time? As you all have experienced, eating is not my favorite time of day, since I can't chew. How long before we can actually bite down on something?? My surgery went rather well, however I am also a Type 1 Diabetic - which gave me even more challenges. I became so dehydrated after the surgery that I ended up back in the hospital. I am hoping that I'll just stay in the hospital for a few days when I have my major orthognathic surgery (sometime in the next year). I am looking forward to exchanging info. with this group - I have wonderful family support, but no one knows what we are going through except each other! take care, Tricia
