Guest guest
I was wondering about how much you eat a day on the liquid diet. Today i ate a slim fast for breakfast, soup for lunch, tea, soup for dinner and a smoothie for desert. Well i live with my grandmother and she says i am eating to much and is forbidding me from eating anything else for the rest of the night and im starving. Do i eat to much or should i eat more? Guest guest
I eat about the same amount you do and it is not a lot at all, definately not too much! I usually have oatmeal for breakfast, soup for lunch, mashed potatoes for dinner and one or 2 chocolate shakes between. As a matter of fact I was just talking with my husband tonight that maybe I should start taking vitamins because I am not sure I am getting all the nutrients I should. Guest guest
You are definitely not eating too much! That's the last thing you should be worrying about now. You are lucky you have the appetite, calories facilitate healing. On a liquid diet, your doctor could probably tell you, you tend to eat more frequently, even 8 or so meals a day. Good luck! And eat! > I was wondering about how much you eat a day on the liquid diet. > Today i ate a slim fast for breakfast, soup for lunch, tea, soup for > dinner and a smoothie for desert. Guest guest
Sounds like you need to eat more. I'd say 2000 calories minimum. If you think you're starving YOU ARE STARVING. Tell your grandmother you'll lock her in her room if you don't get something else to eat. Guest guest
I was eating six meals a day until I was cleared to go to mush foods, and then I trimmed down to only 5 meals a day. When I felt like it, I went down to 4. I asked my doctor when eating was over eating, and he said that for the first six weeks, while I was healing, I should eat to heal and don't worry about it being too much. Guest guest
I was eating all the time. I was only on liquids for a few days, then I was on soft foods and this was my typical day for the first three weeks. I did loose 12 pounds the first week. I am 9 weeks post-op and still only gained back 6 pounds. I am still breastfeeding my little one, too, so I felt like I had to eat constantly to get enough. ~Cathy Breakfast: Carnation Instant Breakfast bowl of oatmeal Snack: Yogurt or mashed fruit Lunch: pureed meat mashed potatoes mashed vegetables Snack: Milk shake Dinner: More pureed meat Mashed potatoes Mashed Vegetables Before bed snack: Milk shake
Guest guest
You DONT eat too much! If you feell like youre starving, try to eat some more if you're able. Be nice to your Grandma but dont take her to heart. Shes wrong. Does it take you a long time to eat? If so, maybe that is the reason she thinks you're 'eating all the time.' Are you able to go to the store on your own? Or do you have friends who could smuggle stuff in to you? Because if it it was me, I'd try to keep the peace by keeping some no-cook stuff in my room as snacks. > I was wondering about how much you eat a day on the liquid diet. > Today i ate a slim fast for breakfast, soup for lunch, tea, soup for > dinner and a smoothie for desert. Guest guest
Grandma needs to have a wee talk with your surgeon, who will, I'd bet, tell her that it is really important for you to get enough calories in there to support the healing. The phrase my surgeon used for post-op recovery is, " You'll be in a catabolic metabolic state, " and " you'll have trouble getting enough calories in there to heal. Guest guest
Cathy, how old is your little one? I am in the process of trying to reactivate breastfeeding with my 91/2 month old. i can't tell if she is getting anything yet or not, it has been 4 days. i was only feeding her morn and night prior to surgery and had a total week off afterwards as she was at my sisters. Isn't it hard to keep these little guys from your face and neck? It is so hard for me not to have hugged her yet since the surgery. it's killing me! > I was eating all the time. Guest guest
Hey, , My boy is almost 16 months. We nursed throughout recovery. I pumped the morning of surgery and again that night after surgery. I was home the next morning so I was able to nurse him then. It was difficult to keep him from my face, but my older children, ages 12 and 13, kept Teddy until he wanted to nurse and take a nap. Then when they brought him to me all he wanted to do was snuggle and nurse, so he was able to keep occupied when I had him.... most of the time anyway. I did get kicked in the face about 5 weeks post-op. I got a swollen lip... not that you could tell But I could feel it. I know it was a very difficult decision for me. I talked to my ob/gyn, my general practitioner, my OS, the hospital and my baby's pediatrician. They all assured me that it would not be a problem with meds, etc. Their main concern was eating enough, but they didn't see that as a big issue either. Mostly I had to hear it from friends and family who think they know what's best for everyone else But I decided that we would try it and if it didn't work, I would just have to accept it. I am glad that we were able to continue. Good luck with trying to restart. I know that it is very possible to reactivate it, and a week isn't a long time. If you stick to it you'll probably pick right up! ~Cathy Re: i have a rather odd question Cathy, how old is your little one? Guest guest
Thanks Cathy for your kind words. Yes,my little Grace is a very active 9.5 month old. I wanted to get right back to it, but to be quite frank was more thankful for the week that my sister had her so i could recouperate easier. That was a blessing. I too, hope that it works (nursing). > > I was eating all the time. I was only on liquids for a few days, > then I was on soft foods and this was my typical day for the first > three weeks.
