Guest guest
Oh shoot, Jeanne. I'm sorry you have a doctor who doesn't " believe " in Candida. Unless you are over 50 and are due for one or have been finding blood in your stools, I personally would NOT get a colonoscopy right now. You have to drink over a gallon of weird stuff that not only has tons of chemicals but is full of sugar additives. It could make matters worse. My " old " doctor (I had her for 16 years) didn't believe in Candida (or CFS!) and is at least partially to blame for the problem I face now. So after this last big hospital debacle, I just decided to change. I found a doctor I like a lot and he believes in Candida. In fact he believes in it so much he told me he wouldn't prescribe a medical anti-fungal until I'd stuck to the Candida diet, taken probiotics and a special yeast called Saccharomyces boulardii lyo (the brand I use is FloraStor but there are others...) My insurance covers the services of the new doctor. Long story short: I recommend either 1.) not listening to this doctor or 2.) start looking for another doctor. Now about constipation, I feel I can speak to this because, for months and months, I've had no end of problems down there. I seem to being doing great now. That's why I was trying to remember all the things I've been doing and listed some fun ones a couple mails ago. But your situation sounds serious to you and since it sounds like you need immediate attention I will tell you what I would in an " emergency " : 1.) I would avoid laxatives but if you already took one fine. 2.) I would give myself an enema. It may take a few " bags " took to get some relief. I just use plain (not chlorinated) water. Let the water stay in you as long as you can because the colon walls probably need to absorb a lot of the water. That's why you should set aside enough time (15 minutes at least) to go through the process. (By the way, many other very qualified people swear by coffee enemas but in my situation I think that' it might be just too much coffee being absorbed through the " dry " colon cell walls. I worry about too much of a jolt. But, again, that's just me.) 3.) My best choice is to go and see a good colon hydrotherapist. A practioner will spend almost an hour with you and run a lot of very clean warm water through. It not only hydrates the entire colon but will remove a " blockage " of, say, impacted waste that's dried up too much to smoothly move down. Through several emergency situations (one that included a very dangerous bacterial infection,) colon hydrotherapy saved my life. Also, I don't take extra fiber supplements especially when I'm that constipated. I eat so much fiber in my diet I can't imagine how I need more fiber and worry that all of these things tend to dry one out to some degree. If you take fiber BE SURE to drink plenty (lots!!) of water throughout the day and when you get up at night. I don't know what the white globs are. They might be Candida but I'll bet they're the " Schulze " colon cleanse stuff. Last, I think Candida put " roots " down through the colon wall in order to aid its process of deconstructing us. The roots slow down the movement of waste. Candida and other pathogens like waste to be as stagnant as possible. Just look at nature: moving water is not where the bacteria and parasites grow... Anyway, I only say these things from miserable experience. It certainly ain't medical " truth " . And good luck. I know what you're going through! ~Robin _____ From: jeannekrieg@... Also I tried Dr. Schulze's colon cleanse for a week several months back and there was like this white glob of stuff in my stools. that is when I stopped taking it. I think Bee had said that was candida? anyone remember? I can't handle this constipation too much longer and took an OTC laxative last nite as I am flying to a conference tomorrow. When I get back my doctor whats me to come in and has suggested a colonoscopy. Will they be able to see the candida during that procedure? My doctor just does not believe in candidisis or candida overgrowth. Jeanne
Guest guest
I had a colonoscopy a year ago. My doctor wanted it done because I'd just turned 50. I drank stuff called " NuLytely " . It had ethylene glycol, sodium bicarbonate, and two other electrolytes I forget now. You can find info on it on internet by doing a search for " NuLytely " . That was the wrost part of the procedure. I don't know if any of the ingredients influence candida or not. The ethylene glycol halts absorption of fluid into the system (I suspect it coats the entire digestive sysem so everything just goes straight through). The colonoscopy itself wasn't bad at all. The sedatives I was given (versaid and something else) made that day useless for anything except sleeping and reading a little bit. Zack > Oh shoot, Jeanne. Guest guest
Dear Jeanne, Did you try taking mega doses of vitamin C and magnesium? I think we talked about that? Didn't it work? Guest guest
I you have a tai chi manual, you will find an exercice were you bend all the way down with arms extended and loose, then stretch up. This exercice is good against constipation; actually, when you do it, you can feel and hear the noise of the bowel moving. Francine
Guest guest
It worked for a couple of days and than went right back to the constipation. I am really pushing the water and I don't know why it is so bad as I usually never have problems. My stools have been really light colored also.......does that mean anything? Guest guest
Hi Jeanne, Again here's my 2 cents: I had light colored stools too jeanne. I can't remember what that means although I assume it has something to do with absorption and a lot to do with basic irritable bowel syndrome, a component of the Candida. I definitely don't think you should worry about it. When I started eating a lot more dark green leafy things the color started coming back and now it's fine and I feel good. When I had those light-colored stools (at one point they were really almost white and I freaked,) I started colon hydrotherapy. There was a lot of bright orangey stuff that we assumed was bile -- definitely toxic and great to get it out of there. I always felt better after. Also I started taking extra magnesium and eating sea vegetables... If it wasn't so late and I wasn't so exhausted I'd think of what else helped me. Although eating chlorophyll rich vegetables helped, I know it took a period of months and quite a few colonics to get the color back to dark browny green. Along with the orangey bile material, we removed a lot of old hardened stuff that was lining the cell walls. Now I have the world's most efficient colon -- all cleaned out I think it's improving my chances for beating the Candida... I'm sure you don't feel so good (I remember feeling particularly awful!) but I hope you won't panic about the color. You're probably another one of us whose liver is messed up due to Candida. (I've been checked for Hepatitis twice in the past year and didn't have it.) Just follow the strict Candida diet and get lots of rest. Probably someone here will know better. It's just one more yucky thing!!! ~Robin Ps. I told my old doctor about the light colored stool and they told me to eat more dark leafy greens.. Although that's a good thing I think they really didn't have a clue. At least they didn't think it was life threatening and that put my mind at ease.. _____ From: jeannekrieg@... Guest guest
That's wonderful Francine. I didn't know that. Guest guest
Hi Jeanne Regarding the light coloured stools I have info here from specialist pathology Lab ARL (similar lab to Great Smokies in the USA)which states that... Tan-Grey stools indicate a blocked bile duct, steatorrhoea, pancreatic insuficiency. I guess there would be more onfo about these things on the net. However, like the oothers have said a big part of the solution would be to detoxify etc. Hope this gives you more clues. Baysfit
Guest guest
This week we had a bad couple of days of constipation. I was looking up what causes stool to become hard, and a page of links about irritable bowel syndrome came up. I was curious to know if anyone else has looked into this with their children. I was also curious about the nervous system being part of the constipation issues. It is mentioned in the below paragraph of what causes IBS. I have read information about Hypotonia and sensory integration talking about nervous system dysfunction. Tina http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/ibs/ What causes IBS? The lining of the colon called the epithelium, which is affected by the immune and nervous systems, regulates the flow of fluids in and out of the colon. In IBS, the epithelium appears to work properly. However, when the contents inside the colon move too quickly, the colon looses its ability to absorb fluids. The result is too much fluid in the stool. In other people, the movement inside the colon is too slow, which causes extra fluid to be absorbed. As a result, a person develops constipation.
