Guest guest
I'm now 9 days post op (upper and lower) and I'm removing the rubber bands on my own now... The stitching is disolving away... and my teeth still aren't touching! I'm worried, concerned, and frightened that maybe my doctor didn't do what I asked him to do! I keep trying to rationalize it- maybe I just can't feel my teeth in some places yet, but I know thats not it. Do othrodontics after surgery really do that much in terms of up and down movement of teeth? They line up on top of eachother with a slight overbite, but they aren't meeting. Anyone else experience this? P.S. Thanks for your responses to " Pinched Nerves " They aren't hurting any more, and my lips are moving a lot more. Guest guest
Hi , Everyone's situation is a little bit different - in my case, I had an old crown/bridge/crown combo that was designed for my old crummy bite, so I definitely had places where things didn't meet. Your ortho will finetune your bite post-op. They can do some pretty amazing things with elastics to close the bite. Usually they can only go so far pre-op and have to wait for the surgical fix before finishing the job. But do keep a close eye on things when you do go back to your ortho in case things start to move in the wrong direction. Relapse does happen, although I'm NOT suggesting in any way that this is your current problem. Have you thought about making an appointment with your ortho just to have a peek (not to do anything)? You might call and see. He/she is probably curious too. And definitely ask these questions at your next visit with the surgeon. Hope that helps, > I'm now 9 days post op (upper and lower) and I'm removing the rubber > bands on my own now... The stitching is disolving away... and my > teeth still aren't touching! Guest guest
, i just posted a response to something else and mentioned that my teeth don't meet on one side of my jaw. when i look at my teeth, as best i can 2 weeks post op, the two front look at good height the tooth on either side, one is good, one is way up, and it is THAT SIDE that is not touching. i know what you mean about the up and down movement. i have my 2 week check up tomorrow so i will be asking about that. > > I'm now 9 days post op (upper and lower) and I'm removing the > rubber > > bands on my own now...
