Guest guest
Hi there! I was in braces for 8 years from 3rd grade-11th grade. Then, I was diagnosed with condylar hyperplasia and TMJ in 11th grade, and they were telling me that I needed braces again, followed by surgery. I absolutely did not want to do this...but four years later and I am set to have surgery on July 20th. I've only had braces on this time since last NOvember, and they really aren't that bad. My TMJ did get considerably worse with braces, as did the headaches and body cramps, but after surgery...hopefully that will all be cured! As for insurance, mine deemed it " medically necessary " and plan to cover the whole thing. I think the key is to not mention TMJ or anything like that, because insurance does not like to cover that stuff. My oral surgeon coded it as a bone disorder and so that is how my surgery got paid for. Good luck!
Guest guest
I'd say that most of us on this site are in braces for the second, or third, or fourth time... How long it takes depends on what your troubles are, how quickly or slowly your teeth move, etc. Insurance did cover for me, as repair of a congenital, skeletal abnormality. I had only minor TMJ troubles, but they did get better post-op. Cammie > Hi everyone! Just had a couple of questions for all of those who > have been through this surgery.
