Thanks ...

Had a rough day today.

Ate Turkey.. and it got stuck and great pain.

I managed to throw up most of it.. but some still blocking my stoma.

Can't drink much yet.. it is slowly going down.

I am crossing turkey off my list.

It is a journey.. but I am so glad I did it!

Your day is coming up fast!!!

, I'm so sorry you had trouble with turkey. At my 6 week checkup, I was

told to wait on chicken and turkey for awhile, but I told her I had been

having chicken, and no problem. I had one tiny piece of turkey at 4 weeks

and was okay.....but I'll be darned if I can eat scrambled eggs. Did it

being stuck frighten you?

Hi Group,

First of all, after reading what some of you have been going through,

I am ashamed to admit this, but I've had a smooth ride. I was 5

weeks post op yesterday, June 7th and I am doing fine. I still have

some slight numbness in my chin and my tongue isn't exactly 100% yet

and there is some residual swelling in my cheeks and under my upper

lip . . . all things I knew to expect. I just have to be patient.

Secondly, the past two days have been very busy for me.

On Tuesday, I had an appointment with my OS and my splint was

removed. I was handed a child's toothbrush and toothpaste and I was

more than happy to accommodate. What a wonderful feeling! My OS

returned and began checking out his work. He put me through the

drill . . . open, close, bite, etc, etc, etc. He is a man of few

words and upon completing his exam he announced to me, " Go and see

your orthodontist! " YES!!! I love this man! I was happy to inform

him that I had an appointment scheduled with my OD for the very next

day. He also cleared me to begin eatiing soft foods and discontinue

wearing bands at night(short lived - you'll read why below). I went

home and I had breakfast food for dinner . . . cheese grits and

scrambled eggs. Getting used to my new bite will be a pleasant

challenge.

I went to my OD yesterday and after taking more photos of me, sans

splint, she removed my surgical wires and hooks. I was fitted with

new wires and " rubber bands " ! Let the tweaking begin!!! My OD is

very pleased with the results of my surgery. I told her that I'm

even amazed how much I can open my mouth. Two fingers worth!

One more thing . . . it was sooooooo nice to floss again! Although I

had my teeth cleaned a little more than a week before my surgery, I'm

going to have them cleaned again in August. Just have to do it!

To all my fellow post-oppers out there . . . continued wishes to you

all for speedy and healthy recoveries! And best wishes and luck to

all you upcoming surgery dates.

With regards,

Dale
