Guest guest
Hey all, This is regarding retainers. I have had braces three times in my life. 4 years as a teen, blew off my retainers in college and paid for it by getting braces again in my 30's. i got them off when pregnant, and was held by retainers. i now have them on, obviously, for the surgery i just had. My question for anyone who has gotten this far.... Do they do the same thing regarding retainers? have you wear them 24/7 for 6 months, then only at night for the rest of eternity? i am in no way going to screw up this $70,000 mouth that is in creation mode. Thanks, katie
Guest guest
I've been in retainers for about two years now -- the clear plastic ones that look a lot like Invisalign. When my ortho gave them to me, he said to wear them at least 14 hours a day. I probably average more than that, actually, because my bite is more comfortable with them than without them. When I saw him a year later, he didn't tell me anything different. I'll see him again next March. I expect to be in them for the rest of my life... Which is ok by me. I'd rather do that than have things move back to a wonky situation. It's very hard, I'm told, to hold the lower front teeth where they're sposed to be. I don't know whether a bonded permanent retainer would do better -- but it surely is nice to be able to take these out and scrub! Cammie > Hey all, > > This is regarding retainers.
