Guest guest
Pam, I followed that link and asked for volunteer placements to help " children and youth " gave them my zipcode and got all " feel good " stuff with religious groups, scouts, etc. Most of the volunteer stuff was also 20-60 miles away in MD or DC. Note Baltimore is more than 9 miles from me no matter what the website says. NOT one reference to foster parenting, my county's court advocate program, meals on wheels, or other real volunteer groups. Note for people looking for help with big houses. There is a program (not listed on the above site) in our county where you provide a home for kids who are not yet 18 but have no home. They help with household chores, etc. in return for paying no rent. The Social Worker will work with you usually on finding the right person for your situation. Take care, Bill Werre =================================================== Pam Bower wrote: >http://www.guidestar.org/news/features/volunteerism.stm > > > >If you do not wish to belong to shydrager, you may >unsubscribe by sending a blank email to > >shydrager-unsubscribe > > > > >
