Hi all,

Just wondering, how long was your stay in the hosp? I am getting

reconstruction of upper, maybe lower and Geniopasty and seems that I

am noted with the ins co (and I checked in w/the OS Ins person) for a

OUT PATIENT stay! HOLY COW!

I could sware I was originally told 2-4 days in, prob 2...but 23

hours??? That seems awefully quick since I have to donate blood and

everything else notes this as very serious surg.

I will ask the OS directly on the 16th when I see him again, but it's

only 1 mth to the surg today and this kind a freaked me out a bit.

(Yes I would love to get out of there and home, but safely and w/o

risk of returning to the hosp AND have confidence in the surg (OS)

but just tweaking a little)

THankS!! Jo

Hey,

I had upper advanced and lower set back. I was an out patient. I

only stayed 23hrs. Even if they schedule you as an out patient, they

won't let you go home if you can't, so try not to worry. Talk to

your doc about it.

Hey Jo, i had upper, lower and genio two weeks ago and was in the

hosp for 2 overnights. i was approved by my insur company for 4 days.

the dr and hosp staff just needed to see that i was able to eat the

liquid diet and pee on my own before release. i thought it was the

perfect amount of time. i was not ready to go home after one night,

no way and my dr knew that!

I was in a day. I had upper/lower and was maybe going to have a genioplasty but

didn't. I checked in at 7:00am, had my surgery at 10:00am and was out the next

morning. I think I left around 9:00 am or so.

Interesting, you're only the second person to stay more than one

nt...were you wired? catheter? Nose tube?

Thanks. Jo

It's common for my surgeon - 1 night per jaw, and quite common for

many other surgeons. I had upper/lower/genio and had a quick and easy

recovery, but they still kept me two nights.

I stayed 3 nights at the hospital, and I had no tubes in the nose. Only

a cetheter that was removed 24 hours after the surgery. I stayed one

more night because of a bad reaction to morphine, otherwise, it would

have been two days. And it's pretty standard around here. One night

int the ICU, and one other in regular nursing.

I had upper and lower. One night in the hospital, not in ICU. Home the next

morning. I asked my OS about it and told him I didn't want to stay longer than

necessary. He said that most of his patients are home the next day.

Hi Jo,

i stayed 3 nights. I got an extra night secondary to percocet

making me nauseated and weirded out. I watch all the narcs crap

they tried to push. I needed more nausea meds than pain meds. They

wouldn't let me have motrin secondary worries of bleeding. I got by

with Tylenol with Codeine for a day then now just Tylenol. I think

you need 2 nights to recover. It's pretty intense and major

surgery. After the first night they took all the foley and pushed

fluids. Don't let them take the IV away until you are doing well

drinking. Then you have to walk around afterwards. I was so doped

up I didn't want to drink or walk. I was tired and had to pee every

hour with the IV. After the 3rd night I was okay to go home and

wanted to go home. If you feel awesome after one or two days in the

hospital then that's great!! Good luck with your surgery!
