Question for those who have had an expander

For those of you who have had an expander cemented in place, I was

wondering how do you keep your top teeth clean? I don't know if

they are all the same, but mine is cemented in place over most of

the teeth on the sides of my upper jaw. There are only 4 in the

front that are not covered by it. What covers my teeth is thick,

clear plastic (I think it is plastic anyway?). Now that I am

getting the hang of eating more solid food again, I looked in the

mirror and can see all kinds of yucky stuff under the clear plastic

and I can't get it out. I even tried a waterpick on the lowest

setting and it didn't work (and probably wasn't a good idea because

now I am bleeding). Help, I am afraid by the time they take it off

all those teeth will be rotten!
