Hi

This is Sue from Milwaukee. I have been unable to be

on the internet for a while, but I have been keeping

track of all of you.

I have a question. Dwight is about ready to go into a

wheel chair and some have suggested I get him the

motorized scooter. I would like to hear from you and

your opinions about this as he is not able to drive a

car. Any help or suggestions you can give will be

fully appreciated.

Sue,

Many Wal-Mart and grocery stores have motorized carts, try him out on

them there to see if he can handle one. My wife could not handle one,

others seem to be able to handle the controls. Another option is to get

one that you can walk beside and operate the controls.

Take care, Bill Werre

Sue:

I do understand your concern about whether he can drive a scooter

since he can't drive a car. Scooters don't go as fast as cars, but they do

require coordination. you will have to have him test drive one at different

levels of medication. I am wondering if, since you said he is about ready for

a wheelchair if an electric wheelchair would be better. He wouldn't have to

get in and out of it and could " drive " it right into the house.

Just a suggestion,

Barbara
