Guest guest
I was just wondering who else out there was having the same problems as I am having. I had my upper jaw moved up and my nose passages opened up and a chin implantation. I did not have to have my lowerjaw moved forward. that was the plan for the longest but my doc changed it at the last minute which I think was for the better. I was only going to have my teeth wired shut for one week but I absolutely couldn't breathe in the hospital so he had to cut my wires. which was an anwered prayer!!!! Now I can breathe out of my mouth. My face is soooo swollen and is starting to turn a yellowish color today. My pain meds wear off one to two hours before I can take them again but I just have to manage I guess. I have had serious nose congestion and I am dealing better with it today. I keep hearing that after the 5th day it gets better. Is that true? When will the swelling go down? When will things get back to normal except for the eating issues. I have a 4 year old and it is getting old for him and me too! I sometimes think I wish I hadn't have done this surgery, but I know in the long run it will be worth it! I just need some big time encouragement from some veterans out there. Thanks a bunch!!
Guest guest
The breathing issue was huge for me too. I'd wake up at night, realizing I wasn't breathing. I'd have " gunk " caught in my throat and not be able to swallow it or spit it out. I had horrible nasal congestion - and a terrible throat ache from the tubes. I would say these problems went away after about the 6th or 7th day. I'm on day 13, and this second week has been infinitely better than the first week. I had people waiting on me hand and foot during the first week, and know I'm doing everything on my own. Of course, I don't have a little one to chase around - but I promise things will start getting better. > I was just wondering who else out there was having the same problems > as I am having. Guest guest
Hi Beth, I'm 6th day post op. The swelling has improved alot. The congestion stinks. Hopefully your doctor allows you to use saline solution or other meds to help with the congestion. I got recommendation to try a humifidier and this has helped alot too esp at night. Hopefully you don't have the phlegm issue. I feel helpless. I hope day 7 will bring relief on this issue. I have 3 kids and if my parents weren't here we wouldn't manage. Hope you have help! Good luck with your recovery! Stuffy and Congested in PA, In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " lorgahn " wrote: > The breathing issue was huge for me too.
