Guest guest
I keep seeing these posts that ask if it is normal to be swollen at 3 weeks, or still numb at 4 weeks. I can relate so much to these questions. I would say " I can deal with... if only... " so many times during the first weeks of recovery! I went from one thing to the next worrying and obsessing about every little detail. " Is my nose too big? I didn't know it would be that big... I could deal with the swelling, but my nose is sooo big.. " " I still can't feel my face. If I just had a tingly sensation, I would know that it was coming back and I could deal with it better. " " I can't tell if I am still swollen. I can deal with the tingly sensations, but I don't want to have a puffy face forever. " " I can't touch on the left side! If only I could touch, I would know that this is all worth it. " I am now 9 weeks post-op and am finally calming down. I still have swelling. I still have a tingling sensation in my chin. If I rub my nose, I can feel a little numbness on the inside. My teeth still don't touch all the way. But, you know, it is all coming together... SLOWLY, SLOWLY I know that it is hard to be patient, but you must give yourselves time to heal. It doesn't take 14 days, 3 weeks, or even 2 months. It takes as long as it takes. Sometimes it's longer than we expect. Sometimes we know going into it that it is not supposed to happen in 2 months, but we don't expect OUR healing to take longer that....
