Hello,

I've written a couple of times in the last 2 wks. I

mentioned that I had just recieved the news of RP from

my Doc. After more test, I been told I need to start

Metho. At the present the only symptom is a mild flare

in my eye, which is being treated with pred. oral and

drops. I'm traveling on Sunday for work, and will be

gone a week. I'm concerned about starting methotrexate

and leaving on what might be a stressful trip. I'm

doing fine otherwise. I'm thinking I should wait until

I return on 8/20 to start the new meds. in case of bad

side effects. Input? Thanks, in Dallas

MA looked up RP and found out

That's really too bad about intubation. I wished

I knew this group back in March. I had

female-type surgery which required me to be

intubated. I asked the doctors if it would be the

catalyst to having tracheal problems due to RP

and they said it wasn't going to be a problem at

all. Famous last words. I knew in my gut that

something was going to happen. Within a month, I

started to cough a lot, hoarse voice, etc. My ENT

insisted it was acid reflux, which I did have, but

I told him it felt different.

It really makes me sad. I don't know what other

options I would have had though. Intubation is

intubation. What other option would we have if we

have to be in surgery, planned or emergency?

I always like the one I haven't tried.

, so sorry you had to go through all of that and end up with more

problems... I know sometimes members in the group when surgery is needed will

be intubated with a very small pediatric tube... Maybe someone with more

experience with this can give you some more input.

Please get the bracelet though... They need to have this information so this

doesn't happen again.

Hi ,

I would wait as long as everything seems fine. The metho made me so very sick, I could not have traveled while taking it. Of course there are others who take it just fine. So, I am just speaking of my experience. I hope and pray it works well for you when you do decide to take it.

Take care,

LU
