Guest guest
Last summer (2001) Chuck and I were very excited that Tracey Rouault wanted to use Chuck's high-ferritin blood to immortalize lymphocytes and further her study. Dr. Colette Hess (NIH and the Navy) arranged the transfer of sample, records and forms with our neurologist. It took me quite a while to convince our neurologist that this was worthwhile research. We were told results might be forthcoming in several months. We never heard from Colette Hess or Tracey Rouault again, in spite of several emails and phone calls from me. The neurologist has heard nothing. Ordinary consideration for patients' rights would have called for just a note to say things did not work out in the lab, the study was ended, or there was a change of personnel and delays, or whatever. But we have received nothing. When I worked for NIH on several of their contracts, concern for any patient involved was paramount as far as informing them. Guess that isn't always the case. No wonder clinicians don't like researchers. Whoops, now I don't want to start another discussion on who likes who.
