Hi ,

Congratulations on your surgery! Fun, huh?

I had the tooth sensitivity and I wish I remember how long it

lasted. It lasts more weeks than days. You will have it for a

while and it will gradually fade over time until you realize it's no

longer there. Again, a slow transition. It may even move from some

teeth to others, then eventually subside. I would say I had it for

a couple of months (sorry!). Even after it subsides after a couple

of months, I remember it taking a very long time to be able to

tolerate my electric toothbrush ... at least 4+ months.

As for brushing, I know! It's so difficult to not brush. For

freshness back there, try a waterpik with some of the prescribed

minty rinse mixed in with the water on the lowest setting, aiming

away from any incisions you might still have. It certainly will not

scrub the scum off of your teeth but it will help to keep your

breathe " feeling " fresh. You won't believe the relief and downright

happiness you will feel when at a future surgeon's visit he/she will

remove the bands and say, " Would you like to brush now? " I think I

spent a full 15 minutes at their sink just so happy to clean my

mouth properly. Hang in there ... that glorious day will come!

Good luck and continued good healing!
