Guest guest
I'd appreciate it some feed back about what people were able to drink postop. Myson is on day 5, his jaws are closed with elastics, and is not tolerating well the liquid diet. Is doin okay with water. Hopefully tomorrow they'll take off the elastics otherwise he;s in trouble thanks
Guest guest
thanks Jay I tried to get creative with the blender but everything loses its appeal once you liquify it. So needless to say most of my creations ended up in the disposal. Lets see how we do with the nest step of the diet, hopefully better. Guest guest
I drank a lot of Ensure Plus (chocoloate is best) and apple juice. I also had Gatorade and water. There were also some Mocha Frappuchino's from Starbucks. I took some clear soups (like chicken broth) but those don't have much nutritional value. My jaws were closed with elastics for 5 days, after that I switched over to the no-chew diet, so I never got very creative with the blender. I did blend a tablespoon of peanut butter into the Ensure to add some calories and protein. Guest guest
--- Does he like milkshakes? I drink alot of shakes with added protein whey (vanilla). Push juice and gatorade if likes those kind of liquids. I agree the liquid diet stinks. The taste is gone, it requires alot of energy (doesn't help my nose is completely clogged!). I make sure I eat every 2-3 hours taking 2 oz, if I take more ozs then I can eat later. Everything will be okay he'll just end up skinner!! Also the protein whey adds alot of vitamins so although calorie depleted I'm up on hydration and vitamins! Good Luck! Guest guest
Try liquifying a variety of things separtely so it is more like a meal. I made pot roast with veggies for dinner and for myself I blended the beef with the gravy and then the potatoes and then the carrots. I put about half a cup of each in separate zippies and went to town. It was almost as good as the real thing. you just have to kep it thin enough. Just remember you need less salt, so you may have to undersalt everything. you can do chicken with gravy, kind of like chicken a la king, blend chili with a little extra tomatoe sauce. Try fish with some toasted bread crumbs and a cream sauce. anything you cook for you family you can put in the blender and then in a zippie. Good luck once you get the hang of it you'll do great. Guest guest
Actually I did and it helped. But I was already getting pretty creative. Thye say necessity is the mother of invention, well I think desperation is probably the father.
