Beware of worms bearing gifts.

The Klez worm drops a polymorphic file infector intended to infect PE EXE

and SCR files. Fortunately, it only works under Windows 98, sparing others

from grief. F-Secure has created a special utility to detect and disinfect

the Klez and it's accompanying Elkern virus.

Magistr:

More than a nuisance

Got an email from an old

friend, which didn't make too much sense as it looked like part of some

instructions for installing something. I thought it was a joke. There was

an attachment which I clicked on but my McAfee email scan detected the

"Magistr" virus. One person, who is supposed to know about these things,

says it is a worm, but not supposedly harmful to our pc's and just a nuisance.

Is this true?

McAfee:

Whose life is it anyway?

I own McAfee 4.0 ... they

will NOT let me update my AV files, yet the box ( I still have ) still

says "UPDATE FOR LIFE " ... FREE. I suppose they mean the life of MAV 4.0

because I am still alive and kicking ... with .4151 Dat files ONLY, and

my computer just about wasn't for the last four days.
