Guest guest
I think it can be mucus he is swallowing after chest physiotherapy, my daugther is 2.5 yowcf and I used to see this when she had a cold. She probably could not spit it out... It was nothing alarming for my CF center. Caroline mom of le 6ncf and Raphaëlle 2.5 wcf > My son has been on his enzymes now for a month and a half now and I noticed yesterday that his stools have mucus in them. They are really well formed and smell normal but you can see the fat/mucus in them. It is weird, and I have never noticed it before. Is this normal? We have just moved and haven't gotten our records transfered yet so the CF center up here refuses to even answer any of my questions. > > PROUD TO BE A SOLDIERS WIFE > Christal > mom of Tristan 6ncf, Zack 2wcf & asthma, Ki'a 4mthsncf
Guest guest
Hi, Many people have eye problems with GD. There are several remedies, specifically Omega 3 (most people prefer flaxseed oil -- 1 Tbsp per 100 lbs body weight), and artificial tears (I like Genteal brand, they have drops and a gel for night). Even tho your eyes are watering, they are dry (the lack of lipid coating or tear film). You really should find ways of relieving the pain, as it is bad for your eyes to be in such a state. Have you been seen by an ophthalmologist? It is best to find one who is experienced in treating thyroid eye disease (TED). Also, if your thyroid levels are not at the right point, you can have worsening of TED. Best to get thyroid levels checked if you haven't done so in a while. Guest guest
Hi Tina, Sorry, I have been gone and have only been back long enough to see there are SO MANY posts on this list stacked up here, I will never catch up. I did find your intro to match up with this question this morning. My most logical guess about your eyes this morning, is that concidering the timeing, the big dose of iodine in the uptake scan has affected you. This does happen, sad to say. It can make us MORE hyper. And more hyper equals more symptoms all over , but many of us do feel things in our eyes first. So now we know you do have eye involvement , as well as your hyper. The most important thing you you to understand now is : RAI is NOT recommended for those with eye involvement ! You choices of treatment are now the antithyroid drugs or surgery only. I see they think you can just hang out and wait till December to start treatment. Guess it is becoming more obvious to you now, that this is a very bad plan. You need to get started on both a beta blocker to hide your symptoms and give you relief, while the antithyroid drugs have time to begin to start working. Even if you end up choosing surgery, they have to get your thyroid levels back to normal first, so starting on the drugs now is the only logical thing to do, in my opinion, and many others here also. ( I am an old time member, so yes... I do know what they will say :-) ) Normally there is no point in going to the doctor today for eye symptoms that will possibly take years to resolve, BUT... since you are brand new and not being treated yet, it is a very good idea to do something. You need them to know what is going on now. They must get you started on the beta blockers for your heart now. That is if you do not have asthma. If you do, they will need to prescribe another type or heart medication. Then also the antithyroid drugs, because they take several weeks to start working. Before you start the drugs, please be positive they have done a white blood count and a liver panel. You must have these blood test results now as a base line reading. Then if any problems arise, you will have proof if it is the drug OR Graves' causing the problem. I can not stress enough how important this is. The eye pain is a normal part of our eye disease. Those that have not felt it have no idea what we are talking about, and they seem to be the ones that do not take it seriously enough. The pain may get worse, so please get the ball rolling on your Graves' treatment. There is nothing they can do for your eyes right now, other than get your thyroid levels back to normal. You will need to wear sunglasses anytime you are in bright light, as this does help the pain during and after. Use eye drops to keep your eyes damp. This prevents more damage. is correct. The watery eyes are really dry eyes. It is you eyes attempt to protect themselves, but they do not have the proper kind of 'water' to do the job. Eye drops: NEVER use any eye drop that says 'gets the red out'. These contain alcohol and make our eyes much worse. I used Refresh Plus eye drops. Cool, but not freezing cold wash cloths on your eyes will feel much better. And no bright light ! Do NOT rub your eyes hard with your fists, as this causes too much pressure further back behind them. Avoid any extra air flow on your eyes, such as heating or cooling systems, the vents in your car, or wind outside. This always made my eyes hurt much worse during and for the whole next day. I know we have given you a lot to do right now, bun one other thing that will help a lot, is to avoid all high iodine foods. You do not need more iodine ! Later, after these beginning things are under control, you will want to learn more about iodine, but for now staying out of all fast food joints, and no seafood is enough. -Pam L- is back and still can not write a short post ;-) 3 1/2 years Graves', TED, and PTU. Remission due to SLOW reduction of PTU (despite an incompetent endo ! ), improved lifestyle, excellent nutrition, herbs, and looking at the big picture. Pills alone only help the symptoms. We must help our bodies to heal.

Guest guest
I feel your pain, because I also had that problem. Except I was numb at the right side of my face. Like many things, the numbness will go away. I was worried too that I would never feel my chin again after reading some posts. But, within 5-8 weeks I was able to feel my entire face. Take care, eklectic205 abstract_reality@...> wrote: this is my 9th day post opp i'm feeling ok but my swelling has barely gone down and my chin and the left side of my nose are compleatly numb, i just had upper and lower jaw surgery for an underbite, im freaking out! is this normal? my parents are woried that there is something wrong because the swelling hasn't got much better and i'm worried im never going to be able to feel my chin or nose again ahhhh! Guest guest
Hi- I am a surgical coordinator for maxillofacial surgeons here on LI, NY. There is no need to start freaking out. What you are experiencing is completely normal. Actually it can take months for the feeling to completely come back. What happens is, during surgery, the nerve endings are temporally paralyzed due to all of the " play " in that area. Don't worry, it will come back. As far as your swelling. Some patients have a tendency to swell more than others. You made it past your 1st week hurdle. It will only get better from here on in, I promise. BUT.... if you have substantial swelling in one area more than the other (and by substantial I mean completely noticeable difference from one side to the other) then you should be seen by your surgeon ASAP. You could have a possible infection. I hope you are feeling better and please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. Hopefully I will be able to help. shp1977@... > this is my 9th day post opp i'm feeling ok but my swelling has barely > gone down and my chin and the left side of my nose are compleatly > numb, i just had upper and lower jaw surgery for an underbite, im > freaking out! is this normal? my parents are woried that there is > something wrong because the swelling hasn't got much better and i'm > worried im never going to be able to feel my chin or nose again > ahhhh!
