Guest guest
I just had Upper Jaw surgery on June 28. Though the bruises are almost gone, and the swelling has gone down significantly, I feel like hell. My nose is all crooked (may have to get another surgery to fix that now) and I can't breath out of it, my ears are plugged, I either can't sleep or I fall asleep while talking to people (so I can't go back to work), feel like I'm going crazy as I have had harsh mood swings, have no motivation to do anything, getting really depressed...Is this all normal and will pass with time, or do you think there is need for some concern. Hope things are going much better for everyone else...
Guest guest
Robyn, Everyone heals differently, and upper surgery is more involved than lower. There is a direct correlation between the length of time under anesthesia and the amount of time to reach recovery. I suspect you were under for significantly longer than I was, and perhaps you stayed on (or are still on) pain medication. My recommendation, get out of house and get some sort of activity in. You're body may still have residual effect from the general running through your veins, or you may be still having side effects from the pain meds. Either way, the more activity you get, the faster that stuff will purge from your system. Also, the activity will help in general with the depression. It wouldn't hurt to call your surgeon and have a discussion about your stage of recovery. They might be able to prescribe something short term to help with the depression and get you back to work sooner. Good luck! Keep us posted as to how you're feeling.
