Boy, you and Connie H are my official " nudgers " and I will always be thankful to you two. LOL Yes I always read the side effects and usually read too much into it... Think i should stop reading.. My samples are for the XR.... I start one week at 37.5 mg and then am suppose to go to 75mg from there... Maybe the 37.5 will be enough... I will let you know.. Thanks again for the wonderful information.... Can't wait to meet you in just a few weeks. hugs

I also have prednisone induced diabetes. When I am tapering pred I taper my diabetes meds, when I am on 4 mg like now I only take metformin. When I go up I take a sulfonurea as well, I check my bs levels regularly and try to keep under180 which I can do at the moment, at higher levels of pred it is harder. I think it was you asking about sed rates, my doctor always checks mine and the amount of pain I have directly correlates with the sed rate. I have been down to 17 when on high pred, usually it is around thirty, when I was dx it was over 80, but we are all different!! I still work, but when I was dx the doctor said what about retirement. I have to say that shocked me! Mind you I have a job where I live in and I have been with the family for almost 20 years, so it is like my own family, so if I don't feel great I can veg out!! Also my breathing problems which were really bad for years have improved dramatically since I have been dx. I take 20mg pred 400 plaqunil (second month) and 4 mg pred and various other things for diabetes, high cholesterol, thyroid etc.) Most of the time I function reasonably! Take care, you two, and everyone else, love Liz __________________________________________________
