Guest guest
Kim I think it is Kim anyway!LOL There are so many of you new ones I can't keep up with you all. Gosh I am so glad that you are asking questions. It is the only way that we learn all we can about this darn RP. My diagnoses was made fairly early. I had 3 or so flares and they treated the first ones like I had a staph infection. I finally went to urgent care and the dr. on call said this doesn't look like an infection but he wasn't going to tell me what it did look like either. He made me an appointment with a dermatologist for the next day or so and the dermatologist wouldn't tell me what I had. He gave me pred in a very high dose and sent me home. My ears got better but I was sicker than a dog. No gradual decrease and went on a literal high from the pred. When I went back into see him in a week or so my ears were better and he told me what I had. Or I should say scared the crap out of me. He told me I had RP and wrote the word out on a chalk board. That was it too. He said you see what I have written there then gave me the meaning. Then said and that is about all the information that there is on it. He also said that he had put me on the high dose of pred to prove to me that it would work. Asked that I come in again when I had another flare and that was the visit. Well I beat feet out of there never to return.LOL I found the most wonderful Rhuemy and he got me through the really rough part of the RP getting it under control. He gave me all the info. he had which was almost nothing and tried to answer questions for me. My flares usually last for a week or so and then subside. I have what I call mini flares where I feel my ears getting warm or an ache or a pain where I have had a flare up before. I have never had a biopsy to prove that I have RP. Some doctors will diagnose from the symptoms. I guess I had all the right symptoms and the right Dr. Hope you start having better luck with your Dr. or find a better one that will listen. Lots of Love Glenda Diagnosis How were you diagnosed? Did any of you require a biopsy to attain the diagnosis? How long do your flares last? Mine seem to last anywhere from 2 hours to a week. Do you have several 'small' ones or is it one long continuous one? My ears often turn red for a shorter period but every day. ---Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).Version: 6.0.265 / Virus Database: 137 - Release Date: 7/18/2001
