Guest guest
Hi all. I had my surgery on Thursday first thing and the most pain I am feeling is from the nasal/trach tube they used to help me drain the blood clots. This has given me a killer sore throat. The other pain is all over body muscle aches like I just ran a marathon or something. I mentioned these aches to one of the ICU nurses and she said that it could be from the paralytics they give you in the ICU so that you don't try to rip out things like your breathing tubes, trach tubes etc. I worked out regularly before the surgery and these just feel like I really overdid it one day. I hope they dissipate soon. I'm on Tylenol with codeine as a pain killer. That seems to help with the jaw pain but not as much with the sore muscles or the sore throat. My husband's taking pictures of this procedure and we'll put them up in a bit to document my recovery. Helene
Guest guest
Congratulations Helene, it's good to have you with us. Your sore throat will be better very soon, just keep drinking your juice and water. And always, always take your pain meds! Don't be too brave and think, " I don't need these any more. " Keep taking them, unless they upset your stomach or something, for at least 3 days, and then I would recommend maybe reducing the dosage but continuing the pain meds for another 2-3 days after that. Some people write how they never took the pain meds or stopped them before they got home from the hospital...WHATEVER. Pain meds are your friends. I didn't have the muscle aches so I don't know about that, but I'm sure you'll feel better soon. Good Luck...! Jay > Hi all.
