Intubation/Flying

I can't remember who asked, but I had surgery to my

shoulder a couple of years ago. The anaethetist was

an Arab lady, I am not sure from which country. I

explained about my trachea problem, and she used a

child's tube. My throat was extremely inflamed and

sore for a few days, but that is all, well my voice

was croaky, but that quite often happens - even

without being intubated!!! Obviously we all have

different degrees of problems - this is another good

reason for carrying your medical records around with

you. My basic pholosophy is - don't worry about it

until it happens.

Flying - I fly a lot but I don't seem to have any

correlation between flying and flares. However before

I was dx I used to come down with an infection either

sinuses, lungs or both, after flying. I was often

quite sick, even hospitalized. I think I was probably

flaring too. I find it quite strange that now I am

taking immunosuppressants I have fewer infections, not

more. I am NOT complaining about this!!!! The flares

I have are much milder also.

Love Liz
