Guest guest
" No one in this group would ever promote the killing of any animals, especially me. This was all a joke. Sorry if I offended you. " Marilyn, None taken. That's why I put a smiley at the end of my sentence. It seems like there's lots of animal lovers here. I myself have two cats and one step-dog. And a skunk that occassionaly makes him/herself known by her strong lovely scent at night. :-) If you know me any better, you'd think I had sick thoughts...I could probably better the worst of you all in thinking up ways to get at the neighbor, but in the end, it's the Golden Rule that keeps me honest. :-) Hey Group: Looks like I'm going to have to step up with the stent thing a little sooner than I expected. My husband's dear old grandmother died last week and the funeral already happened. We missed it because we didn't tell our families that we canceled our Ireland trip because we thought we could take our time and we also didn't think it would adversely affect anyone but us. Wrong. Let that be a lesson to all of you... She died either the day before or after our planned departure. Today, called grandpa and got the bad news. Grandma and grandpa were totally attached to each other, and grandma had been pretty much bedridden or ill for the past few years. Until he hurt his hips and had to have it replaced a few weeks ago, he was her stronghold, her foundation. And she was his, even though she was weak and ill. We really worried about them, living together with no family around in the middle of San TX. went there for a few days to help them out. Now we're worried about grandpa and hoping he's holding out emotionally and physically. He's one of those Northeastern-types who are stoic and stubborn and won't accept help even if they're in the middle of quicksand. He wants us to come visit him and help him clear out grandma's stuff. And I'm sure he wants someone with him. And here is my predicament: I talked to my rheum. about this possible trip and he is adamant that I get a stent done before my trip. He says that I can fly out within days of the stent being put in (all I know is that a one-night stay in the hospital is required to ensure the stent is in place.) I don't know what recuperation is like, from the patient's pt. of view. We'd like to go to TX in about 2 wks, so it looks like I'm going to have to have a stent in place within a week's time, if scheduling is possible. Dr. says it's a matter of life-saving that I do this. Pulmonologist called me today (before I heard about grandma) and we agreed we'd schedule a CT scan of my throat sometime this week, as preliminary procedure before deciding on the stent. Anyway, still unsure how to proceed though it does seem obvious. I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place. There's not much time for a second opinion, though I have every confidence in these doctors because UCSF is a great teaching hospital and has a great reputation. Does anyone know how to check on doctor's and their records? The dr who would be operating on me has done stents for other RP patients before. I don't know success rate. Tips (other than looking both sides when crossing the road) and suggestions would be appreciated. :-P ===== When choosing the lesser of two evils, I always like the one I haven't tried. -- Mae West __________________________________________________
