Guest guest
Hi All. Ok... All you who said " You drove here? " at the Chicago Conference... I now understand! I flew into Atlanta yesterday on my way to Florida for CEUs for my national certification. Today, we drove to SC - so I could see a friend who is ill. After a couple of hours I was VERY thankful for the " trial balloon " trip. You see, when traveling in our van, I rode in a seat that was basically like an overstuffed recliner you'd find in your house. It is a most excellent gift from God - a really nice conversion van. My parents, on the other hand, have a nice (newer than ours) van - but it's a standard minivan. They've tried to make me comfortable - but after 2 hours, I was in severe pain. As Forrest Gump would say - it was my " buttocks " . Of course, I had plenty of neuro pains elsewhere - but... Couldn't hardly do anything when we arrived. Then we drove 3 hours back - and now it hurts to sit anywhere! I'm also a neuro wreck! Seems when I get colder, my body spazzes. I mean, I look like someone with CP and PD or something. My parents asked me today if it bothered me that others stared (i.e. at the airport - where it was really showing) and I said " no - nothing I can do about it. Plus, it gives them something to look at. " :-) I'm sure glad I went to the Conference last weekend... the neuro explanations of what happens in the uncontrolled muscle movements was great. Well, parents' house is nice and toasty, so I'm not spazzing out near as much now. Sure weird though. I mean... I had all sorts of experiences on the flight - like severe chest pains. Bad enough to tell the flight attendant - but I knew it was not " real " pain - no physiological reason. At least I was betting on it - and my bet won this time. I'm sure not looking forward to Monday though... a 12 hour drive?! You can bet I'm gonna be taking lots of pillows! Perhaps it wouldn't matter what I rode in though - because my body seems to have gone through another neuro shift - downward. Well, better get.
