Guest guest
Okay, so I'm getting myself mentally ready for my upper / lower surgery that will hopefully take place at the end of the year. I've got s superior surgeon locked up, my insurance approved the surgery, my ortho is top-notch - everything looks great. But...The thing that truly keeps me up at night is the nerve damage. I'm worried about all the things I'll miss if I lose the feeling in my lips. Could all of you who have had lower set back and upper moved forward tell me about your experiences specific to numbness – how much, how long, etc. Thank you
Guest guest
I can tell yout that right away I had two spots, upper right and lower left that were tingly. I am almost 5 weeks post op and they are still tingly. I was worried about the bottom one because my lip was being pulled down but it is starting to go away and my OS told me today to move it alot...she told me to go home and tell my hubby that we need to do alot of kissing, it's good for the healing. I had dreams about kissing, I finally did it a couple of nights ago and it was so wierd because my mouth is so different...but it was good. > Okay, so I'm getting myself mentally ready for my upper / lower > surgery that will hopefully take place at the end of the year. Guest guest
I too had my upper moved forward and lower moved back. At first I was really, really numb and scared I would never feel my boyfriend kiss me again but within a few months I gained back a ton of feeling. My surgery was last summer and I have no numbness at all anymore except a funny/different feeling about the size of a dime on my right cheek near the corner of my lip. Just keep in mind that it does take 6 months to a year for the nerves to repair themselves. I hated being numb so I made sure I was always healthy and eating foods full of nutrients and vitamins. rthognathicsurgerysupport , " clarkuscoffeyus " wrote: > Okay, so I'm getting myself mentally ready for my upper / lower > surgery that will hopefully take place at the end of the year.
