went into the hosp last Sat. Pneumonia and UTI

Which they found E.Coli. His temp has not been able

to be below 100 to many days. Yesterday it was 98.7

for awhile but 99.9 when I left last night. Was up to

104. He does not seem to be making a lot of progress

has such shallow breathing. Giving him IPP breathing txments

that do seem to be of help. He can only lay on his back

and now seems to have a rash and almost looks like sores.

One of the Dr. said not to worry and wrote an RX or an ointment

I don't know what that is yet. PT people think he should be

on an air mattress and another nurse made the same suggestion.

So far they don't feel it is necessary. He is on his 8th day

and tho making small progress seems very slow. I know with

both the infections it is a lot for his body to fight off.

Any experience with this would be appreciated. I asked them

to try a condom cath, and none of the nurses knew how to put

it on correctly. So after three attempts one of them got an order

for a Foley Cath yesterday. The Dr. who ordered it said with

the antibiotics he is getting he thought it would do no harm.

Hope he is right as he is fighting off a very nasty UTI. It is

discouraging as he is making such very slow progress. Looks like he

won't be out of there this week end. Any input would be appreciated

by us.

Thanks

Hanson

Hang in there, this is (unfortunately) an expected part of MSA. Make

sure you take care of yourself too. You can worry too much about

and ruin your health at a time like this - he IS under a doctor's care.
