Guest guest
I am just about to call my surgeon. I think i AM off center. i went to bed in tears last night. i am in the middle of a divorce, have a 10 month old, have to move, starting the school year in 3 weeks (teacher),...... I cannot imagine having this redone. i tried to get in touch with another group member here who was off center and had surgery redone 6 months later, but i have not heard back from him/her. i cannot imagine going through this again. i can't. i am freaking out. Now that the swelling is going down, i have been able to tell that it's most definite i am off center. Freaking out.
Guest guest
Hi ! It's easier for me sometimes to just send a direct email then it is to long on to Yahoo. I, too, am off-center as you call it and I had surgery one year ago. My midlines are off by 2 mm, which doesn't sound like much, but it's enough to cause me problems. I had my braces off in April and just found out yesterday that I have to have them put back on. I was initially about 4 mm off-center following surgery and my surgeon wanted to redo the surgery. I flipped out and said no way so they tried for 9 months to pull everything back on with a million elastics. It helped, but was not 100 percent. My midlines will always be off, and I have become sort of a " midline nazi " , analyzing everyone's midlines that I can. I realize that most people are not dead-on. If it causes you pain in your tm joint, that is a problem and I highly recommend that you notify your doctor right away. Elastics may be in order and you would be surprised how tight they can run them. I would not reconsider surgery again at this point. You are obviously still too fresh from surgery to be able to tell what your final results will be. However, if at the time your braces need to be removed you still do not feel that things are quite right, DO tell your ortho. Mine wouldn't listen and now he has to pay out of HIS pocket to put my braces back on. Good luck!
Guest guest
, What exactly seems off center to you? Is it your teeth/midlines? Or does your face actually look crooked? If your midlines look off center, when you resume your post-surgery ortho treatment, your ortho should be able to fix this. Also, you must remember that you are very early in the healing period and swelling can make things appear to be crooked. Try to relax & give your surgeon a call. Maybe he will see you & evaluate what is going on. Best, > I am just about to call my surgeon. Guest guest
I'm not sure what is off center for you but for me, the line from the middle of my upper teeth and the line from the middle of my lower teeth were off line. My ortho changed my rubber bands. then my teeth would not match up. I was very concerned but now my ortho changed my bands again and everything is starting to shift into place. > I am just about to call my surgeon. Guest guest
You're right, i am early in the healing process (4 weeks tomorrow), but when i put my fingers on either side of my new chin, it is definitly to one side of my face. if it was just my teeth i would not be as concerned. from my upperlip down, my teeth midlines line up and my chin lines up with that, but all of it seems to be off to the side, so i am assuming that from the upper jaw being raised, THAT was placed off center. I can imagine teeth being shifted. i cannot imagine how this chin bone that seems pretty off center now can EVER get into center position. it is DEFINITELY not under the middle part of my nose. Crying. (have not heard back from surgeon yet, waiting.) > > I am just about to call my surgeon. Guest guest
Is your jams off venter or yout front teeth? Hopefully it's your teeth and they CAN move them with your braces after you're done...I know I have read that. anyway-track them down and get your surg on the phone ASAP. TAKE NO S*IT! This is a serious concern and on call or off today, someone need to talk with you today. Let us know...and deep breaths...it will be ok, it just sounds like you have a TON on your plate. Hang in there, jo > I am just about to call my surgeon.
